You’ll benefit from our patient, step-by-step approach to kayaking developed by the American Canoe Association (ACA).
Lessons are taught by ACA-certified kayak instructors. There’s typically 1 instructor for every 4 students, so you’ll get plenty of support.
You can also use our top-of-the-line boats and gear for free!
Most students start with our beginner’s package, which includes 3 lessons:
.(1) Kayaking 101 – Essentials of Kayaking;
.(2) Kayaking 102 – Safety and Recovery; and
.(3) Day Trip / Skills Review.
Each lesson is 3-4 hours. The first two cover skills essential for all types of kayaking; the third will give you a chance to practice them and explore!

Winter pool classes meet in Takoma Park, MD (a 15 minute walk from the Takoma Metro) from on Sunday mornings.
