What to Bring

Paperwork

  • Your ACA Adult or Minor membership form and waiver (each student must complete their own form).  Please complete the form before you come and bring it with you.  See our FAQs for instructions on filling out the form.

.

Weather/Clothing

  • Check the weather before you come and dress appropriately.

  • Wear clothing that will dry quickly, like synthetic shorts and shirts.  No cotton!

  • Bring a towel and a change of clothes (you can leave this in your car).

  • Shoes that can get wet.  No flip flops.  Wetshoes are best and worth the investment.  We carry the NRS kicker shoe for men and women in popular sizes and current students get a special discount.  Contact us to see if we have your size in stock.

.

Food/Supplies

  • Water.  A liter is about right.

  • Food.  For 101 and 102 lessons, a snack (e.g. granola bar) is fine.  For day trips, bring a lunch.  Make sure it’s in a drybag or ziploc bag so it doesn’t get wet!

  • Sunscreen.

  • If you wear sunglasses, bring straps so they don’t fall off your head.

  • Something to store your wallet and keys in and keep them dry. Some keys are chipped and will get ruined if they get wet.  A car hide‐a‐key box is helpful.  Two ziplock bags will often do the trick.

  • Some people use ear plugs.

  • Kayak nose clips (required for whitewater and rolling).  We sell these for $10 at the lesson if you need them.
